PLANS by Celtic Football Club for the build of a full size indoor football pitch at their Barrowfield training ground have been given the green light.

It follows approval in September for the creation of a building containing a gym, changing rooms and reception at the site in Glasgow’s east end.

The new football pitch measuring 105m x 68m will be housed inside a new building, which planning documents said would aesthetically be ‘in keeping’ with other facilities owned by Celtic FC – with a white tensile structure and green base.

Ryden, on behalf of the club, wrote in the planning statement, “The Barrowfield complex is primarily for the use of Celtic FC’s youth teams for training and matches.

“The proposal will allow these teams to train and play football games during inclement weather. On occasion, during particularly inclement weather, Celtic FC’sfirst team may also use the facilities.”
