WORK is underway to ‘transform’ the pavilion at King George V Playing Fields in Ayr.
South Ayrshire Council is investing £1.36 million in the project, which will create more space and a new entrance for a fully accessible facility.
The renovations, due to be complete early next year, will also see the addition of eight new changing areas, including two dedicated for referees.
The inclusion of solar panels means the building will generate its own electricity.
Councillor Ian Cochrane, environment portfolio holder for South Ayrshire Council, said, “I am delighted this project is underway, the playing fields are very popular, so the new pavilion will make a huge difference, particularly on match days. With the health and wellbeing of residents more important than ever before, we continue to invest in facilities which encourage sport and exercise.”
