Public to have a say on Madras College site proposals

THE public is to have a say on Scotsman Developments’ proposals for a new mixed-use development at the former Madras College campus on Kilrymont Road, St Andrews.

Plans include new housing – including 30% affordable homes – and the retention and re-use of listed school buildings for residential, retail and leisure purposes.

As part of Fife Council’s Building Fife’s Future programme, a new £55 million Madras College building has been completed on a site at Langlands. In conjunction with this, the college’s Kilrymont site was marketed for sale by Fife Council for development purposes.

As Proposal of Application Notice was submitted to Fife Council in July. The public will now have the chance to view proposals, ask questions and provide feedback at the first of two online community consultation events. This will take place on Thursday 19th August from 2pm–4pm and 5pm–7pm on a dedicated project website which has been set-up at www.kilrymont.co.uk. A second consultation event is due to take place on Wednesday 22nd September.

David Scanlon from Scotsman Developments Ltd said, “We’re delighted to be giving the public the chance to shape our proposals for this exciting mixed-use development at the former Kilrymont campus. Our scheme will serve to regenerate the current brownfield site, retaining and re-using the existing listed school buildings, something I am aware will be greatly welcomed by the local community.

“Development will deliver much-needed housing, including affordable homes, local retail and leisure uses. I would encourage as many of those who are able to take advantage of this opportunity, ask any questions they might have and provide feedback.”
