A hardware firm has claimed to have created the ‘perfect’ music playlist for tradespeople following a study into their listening habits.

IronmongeryDirect analysed thousands of Spotify playlists featuring trade-related words in the titles – such as construction, plumbing etc. – to discover the most common songs that appear.

AC/DC was the most popular band featured in all of the playlists found, with their hit Back in Black being the most listened to song amongst tradespeople overall.

But songs from other genres, including Africa by TOTO, and good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo, also appear in the top 10 – whilst Lana Del Rey, Fleetwood Mac and Harry Styles are amongst the most popular artists.

The choice of song for bricklayers proved to vary, with the most popular being Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People, while other songs from rock classics to modern pop and R&B feature heavily in playlists.

Electricians listen to an even more varied selection, with electric song Closer by The Chainsmokers being a common feature alongside rap artists like Doja Cat, and indie tune, The Less I Know the Better by Tame Impala.

Joiners top the charts for rockers, with AC/DC securing the top three song spots – with Back in Black at number one, followed by Thunderstruck and Highway to Hell.

The firm created an ‘ultimate’ tradespeople playlist which Spotify users can be access by clicking here.
