Build of sandstone walls underway at Highland car park

WORKS have commenced at Tain public car park on a £112,583 town centre fund project for The Highland Council.

The ‘transformational’ works located at King Street in Tain include the construction of sandstone walls in locally sourced stone.

McGregor Construction Ltd has already installed foundations, with the main contractor’s work allowing for AB Masonry of Nairn to begin construction of the sandstone walls.

McGregor Construction is now digging out the site for new kerbing and footways. The firm has also commenced work on the steps between the upper and lower car park, with the car park to be resurfaced and lined too.

Councillor Fiona Robertson, of the Easter Ross area committee, said, “Its great to see work underway at King Street car park which will greatly improve our parking facilities available in Tain for locals and visitors. The new car park will help to welcome people back into Tain to shop and visit and help boost the local economy as we move forward in the recovery from the pandemic.”
