TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has revealed pre-construction work is underway on its West Craigs development of 250 new properties, a quarter of which will be affordable homes.
West Craigs, located off Maybury Road on the outskirts of west Edinburgh, will comprise a mix of house types. Taylor Wimpey said the project represents a ‘significant investment’ in the local area, and includes contributions of almost £5 million towards education and transport.
Pauline Mills, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “We are so pleased that our pre-construction works at West Craigs have started. It signals the very first steps of our first development on the western side of the city for some time. West Craigs will provide buyers with a wide selection of homes, as well as great commutable routes to Edinburgh and the wider area.
“There are several months of pre-construction works to complete before we can finalise the timescales of when we will start building our new homes, however we expect that will be later this year and we will continue to update the local community with our plans. As well as delivering much needed new homes in west Edinburgh, our development will provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.”
