Milestone in conversion of former Glasgow school site

MULTI-utilities specialist Arc-Tech MU has started work at a former primary school site in Govan that is set to become a new affordable housing development.

Drumoyne Primary had lay vacant for a number of years before proposals were taken forward by Linthouse Housing Association in 2020 to redevelop the site.

Made possible with funding support from Glasgow City Council and Scottish Government, a total 49 homes for social rent will be created with the retention of the 1930s school façade and conversion of the former janitor’s house included within the masterplan.

CCG formally commenced construction in November with Arc-Tech MU supporting the delivery of the programme with the design and installation of a duel-fuel gas and electrical services package.

Works will be undertaken over a 46-week period in support of the 90-week construction programme, with completion expected in summer 2022.

Josh Martin, Arc-Tech MD, said, “The former Drumoyne School development is certainly very interesting and a welcome addition to Govan, bringing much-needed affordable housing. Our contracts team will work diligently to ensure that all works will be undertaken efficiently and to the highest quality standards.”
