Ground broken on ‘substantial’ Glasgow development

THE JR Group has broken ground on a new development close to Glasgow city centre, which will comprise of 55 flats for social rent and a commercial unit.

Delivering the project on behalf of Glasgow West Housing Association (GWHA), JR Group is on site at the Dover Street development in Finnieston, which is expected to take two years to complete.

Craig Whyte, commercial director for The JR Group, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with GWHA to break ground on this project. This is a substantial development which includes much-needed homes for Glasgow, so it is great to deliver these on behalf of the housing association, with the aim of creating a vibrant place to live.”

Joe Heaney, GWHA’s chairperson, added, “This has been a complex and challenging development project, and we are thankful for the ongoing support of the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and our local community, in reaching this important milestone. There is overwhelming demand for social housing in our area, and we are excited about the significant contribution these high quality, energy efficient homes will make towards our vision of shaping thriving communities.”
