Hart appointed to affordable homes project on former Edinburgh school site

HOPEFIELD Partnership has appointed Hart Builders to deliver a multi-million pound affordable housing development on the site of the former Hunter’s Tryst Primary School in Oxgangs Green, Edinburgh.

The £11 million project will see 85 new homes built on the brownfield site. The development has been designed around a village green theme, with the new homes comprising a mix of 79 one, two and three-bedroom flats and six terraced houses.

The properties are being delivered as part of PfP Capital’s mid-market rent fund set up by PfP Capital and supported by the Scottish Government, which aims to provide around 1,000 mid-market rental homes across the country. This is the second of two large developments  Hart Builders is constructing for PfP Capital in Edinburgh, which will provide 236 new affordable homes for the city.

Andy Mallice, MD of Hart Builders said, “We are pleased to be working with Hopefield Partnership to deliver this significant project in Oxgangs to bring quality affordable homes to the area. Hart Builders have an impressive track record in delivering award-winning housing projects in Edinburgh, with many more developments currently under construction that will bring new homes to the city.”

Hopefield Partnerships chief executive Kenneth Boyd added, “We are delighted to appoint Hart Builders to deliver the Oxgangs development. Together we will be able to offer our high quality and energy efficient homes in a carefully designed setting that links well with the existing community.”

PfP Capital fund director William Kyle commented, “We are pleased to be working with Hopefield Partnerships and Hart Builders on the delivery of 85 much needed homes for mid-market rent in Edinburgh. We look forward to delivering these high quality, affordable rental homes to the market as part of our partnership with the Scottish Government.”
