THE JR Group has marked a major milestone in the development of an affordable housing project in Cambuslang.
The Paisley-based contractor has reached the halfway point in the creation of 88 new homes, which will be available for rent or shared equity, and are being built on behalf of Link Group.
To celebrate, the JR Group has released images and drone footage of the development, which was brought to life with the help of key subcontracting partners and suppliers.
Despite challenges caused by the Covid-19 situation, residents are on track to be welcomed into their new homes by June 2021. Set across 10 apartment blocks, the development includes one and two bedroom flats, of four and six-storeys, along with a range of two and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses. There will be access to open amenity space with links to roads and nearby shops.
Senior site manager John McEwan said, “The progress that has been made at the Bridge Street development in the space of just 10 months is excellent. It’s thanks to the hard work of everyone involved that we are now celebrating being halfway towards completion. The coronavirus pandemic has not come without its challenges for the construction industry, but we are delighted to be back on site and the team’s approach to the new sector guidance has been exemplary.
“The Bridge Street development is designed to boost the provision of high-quality, affordable housing in Cambuslang and with a range of different house types on offer to suit a range of needs. We are proud to be bringing this attractive development to the area and we look forward to a successful completion.”
