GRAEME Fox has been appointed head of technical at the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA).
Mr Fox, who has been head of REFCOM, is a chartered engineer with over 30 years’ experience of building services engineering. He ran his own refrigeration and air conditioning contracting business for more than 25 years, specialising in air conditioning design, installation and troubleshooting.
He is a former president of AREA – the European association of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump contractors – and previously served as a member of BESA council. He is also currently a director of ACRIB and of the Institute of Refrigeration.
“The building services sector is facing multiple challenges on several fronts including achieving our low carbon commitments against a background of increased demands for proof of competency and compliance prompted by the Hackitt Review,” Graeme Fox said. “I look forward to driving the technical agenda for our members ensuring their expertise is sought and their voice heard. We must also strengthen the relationship between the various trade and professional bodies so our industry can speak with a strong, unified voice.”
BESA chief executive David Frise added, “As head of technical, Graeme is taking on a wider remit that covers the full technical support and output of the association while also retaining his vital role providing technical and regulatory support to REFCOM members.”
