THE transformation of the former Ravenscraig steelworks site has marked an important milestone with the first new home plot reserved just hours after becoming available.
Keepmoat Homes has started work on the 10-acre site in North Lanarkshire, with plans to deliver 111 new homes following planning approval in June 2018.
The development, called The Castings, is expected to be completed in 2021 and will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties. Eleven of the new homes will be affordable housing administered by North Lanarkshire Council.
Beth McNeil, regional managing director at Keepmoat Homes in Scotland said, “Our development at Ravenscraig is part of a larger transformation that is looking to breathe new life into this once great hub of industry, by making it the centre of a new community. We’re proud to be working with North Lanarkshire Council to deliver much needed new homes to the area and to be playing our part in this once in a generation transformation.
“It was fantastic to see the demand for new housing in the area, as within hours of launching the new homes to the market we had our first reservation. I look forward to welcoming the new residents to The Castings when the first homes are completed in Autumn 2019.”
