Scots housebuilder acquires two new English sites

The new Cheltenham office

MACTAGGART & Mickel Homes is expanding its presence south of the border after snapping up two new Oxfordshire development sites in Marcham and East Hagbourne.

The housebuilder, which has been building homes in Scotland since 1925, received planning permission for its first English development last year at Milton under Wychwood in West Oxfordshire. Work has started on 62 new homes there, and is also about to begin on 38 new homes at East Challow, also in Oxfordshire.

The Marcham site already has planning permission in place for 47 homes. Mactaggart & Mickel Homes England intend to start on site following approval on a new application, which includes Mactaggart & Mickel- designed houses.

The East Hagbourne development has outline planning permission for 74 homes. The company aims to apply for full planning consent later this year, with a view to work getting underway 2019.

Mactaggart & Mickel Group recently opened an office in Cheltenham, creating around 20 full time jobs in the process.

Ed Monaghan, chairman of Mactaggart & Mickel Homes England said, “It has been fantastic to see our English expansion plans progressing so well, with one development already on site, another about to begin, and now the acquisition of two further sites in popular Oxfordshire, one of which already has planning consent in place.

“Similarly to our East Challow and Milton under Wychwood developments, we look forward to bringing our stunning new homes, with bespoke design, sympathetically created to fit into the local style and area.  We will also work with local suppliers to deliver quality new homes on these sites, contributing further to the Oxfordshire economy.”
