SPRINGFIELD Properties has completed the final handover of its £23 million affordable homes development at Muirhouse, Edinburgh.
The project – comprising 202 homes – was delivered in partnership with Dunedin Canmore and Muirhouse Housing Association, with construction starting back in 2012.
The final handover of 49 homes marks a significant milestone for the site.
Tom Leggeat, partnership director at Springfield Properties Group said, “Muirhouse is one of our larger affordable developments and through a successful placemaking programme we are very pleased to deliver 202 homes, rejuvenating a derelict site into a thriving community in the process. Together, with Dunedin Canmore and Muirhouse Housing Association, we’ve transformed the former BT Training Centre into a community development incorporating open spaces, scenic views and energy efficient houses.
“This handover marks a real achievement for Springfield Properties – and we are proud to contribute to the wider regeneration of the local area.”
Dunedin Canmore MD Hazel Young added, “The new homes in Muirhouse are a great boost to the community. The new properties are providing cosy, modern homes for people and we’re delighted that customers are so happy with them.”
Kevin Stewart, Minister for Local Government and Housing said, “Making sure everyone has a safe, warm and affordable home is central to our drive for a fairer and more prosperous Scotland.”
