PLANNING permission has been approved for 115 new homes in Edinburgh’s Leith area.
The Barratt Homes development will comprise a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and colony homes, as well as a landscaped green corridor featuring a cycle path and pedestrian walkway to connect to the existing National Cycle Route.
Barratt said the development is expected to create over 500 jobs.
Mansoor Ali, development director for Barratt Homes East Scotland said, “New homes in Leith is good news for the area and good news for the city. We are continuing to see demand outstrip supply within Edinburgh’s existing housing stock, and this is unlikely to change. Our new development in Leith will go some way to help address this. As well as homes for sale we will also be working to deliver 28 affordable homes along with a number of properties for social housing, all set to help alleviate some of the current housing shortfall in the city.”
Barratt Homes will also be providing £530,000 for community improvements including education and transport infrastructure projects.
