FIFE College students are to give a virtual makeover to Muir Homes’ Wemyss showhome at their Castlefleurie development in Leven, after the housebuilder offered them use of the property for one of their design projects.
The students from the college’s architecture with interior design NC course recently visited the site, where they were shown around four-bedroom villa, which they will use as a living template.
The students have been asked to come up with their own designs for two of the rooms, and will create 3D visuals and models of their ideas.
Grace Brownlow, sales and marketing director at Muir Homes said, “We’re delighted to be encouraging local students to get a first-hand knowledge of housebuilding and construction sites in the Fife area. Beautifully designed interiors are something we’re passionate about at Muir, so hopefully our showhome will inspire the students to some fantastic ideas. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they come up with.”
Karen Colville, design lecturer at Fife College added, “The project involves the students creating their own technical drawings – including plans, sections and 3d visuals – and interior designs for two rooms within the building, one from each floor, based on a client. The students will develop a number of designs to suit the client but select their favourite one to present, as well as making a model of the space. It should be an exciting project, and the visit to the showhome has given the students real food for thought for their own designs.”
