POLICE SCOTLAND has confirmed a man has died following an incident involving a car and a heavy agricultural vehicle which was towing a digger. Another man is in a serious condition in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash in Fernhill Road, Rutherglen around 11.05 on Tuesday May 24.
Five cars and a bus were also involved in the incident, however police said none of the vehicles were badly damaged.
Police Scotland said the male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and the male driver of the agricultural vehicle was taken to hospital, where his condition has been described by staff as serious.
Sergeant Alison McAuley from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell said an extensive recovery operation was underway and urged any witnesses to contact police.
