CITY of Glasgow College’s Riverside Campus has scooped the top prize for Design through Innovation at the RICS Awards in Scotland.
Designed by Michael Laird Architects and Reiach & Hall Architects, Riverside Campus was one of three projects in the shortlist for the award.
Principal and CEO, Paul Little, said, “I am delighted that City of Glasgow College has won the RICS Award for Design through Innovation. Riverside campus is the most modern, most technologically advanced and most future proofed maritime campus of all 230 such colleges anywhere in the world.
“This accolade underlines what we already know about our campus, that it is a stunning building which truly has the wow factor. Our students are enjoying the spaces and it is having a positive impression on our industry partners across the globe.”
In a joint statement, Brendan Diamond, director of Michael Laird Architects, and Lyle Chrystie, director of Reiach and Hall Architects, added, “It is always a privilege to receive an award from our peers in the construction industry. The building embodies the ethos of both our practices; excellent design, commercial success and effective delivery. Riverside campus has won a number of accolades but our biggest award so far is the extremely positive feedback from its users. The building not only provides an innovative design solution to accommodate the college at Riverside but is also helping the college deliver enhanced learning outcomes for its students.”
All category winners will now automatically be entered into the UK RICS Awards Grand Final, to be held in London in October.
