JOHNSTONE Town Hall has been shortlisted as a Regional Finalist in the National Civic Trust Awards.

Built by BAM Construction, the community building is located in Ludovic Square in the heart of the town.  It features an impressive glass façade, with a striking public atrium and high quality stone finish, and was designed as a catalyst for a wider regeneration programme for the town. It created a new model for the delivery of community services as the public library, theatre, marriage suite, conference room and café sit alongside staff from Renfrewshire Council’s Housing and Social Work departments, AdviceWorks, Police Scotland and MacMillan Cancer Support.

The Civic Trust Awards aim to recognise the best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art.

Doug Keillor, regional director Scotland, BAM Construction, said, “Johnstone Town Hall is an exceptional and inspirational building in every way. It’s the result of positive collaboration between all the team, we are delighted the building has been shortlisted for a prestigious award alongside some equally impressive buildings throughout the UK.”

A national panel of judges will review the regional finalists next month with a decision expected on Monday 21 December. The short-listing follows on the back of Johnstone Town Hall winning Development of the Year (Public Buildings) at this year’s Scottish Property Awards.
