GRAHAM Construction has completed work on the new £2.9million Day Centre and Medical Practice at Hamilton Road, Gullane.
The purpose built facility includes a day centre and a new home for the local GP practice. The centre was delivered in partnership through Hub South East Scotland Limited.
Neil McFarlane, regional director of GRAHAM Construction explained, “We are proud to have delivered this excellent project on behalf of Hub South East Scotland for the people of Gullane.
“We’ve worked hard to forge relationships with the local supply chain to create a facility which has benefited the community from construction to completion – and beyond.”
The building itself features locally accessed materials including sandstone and timber frames and the contemporary design incorporates energy efficient measures including a living sedum roof and air source heating.
The heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside and can generate warmth from the air even when the temperature outside is well below freezing.
The new day centre and GP practice offers state-of-the-art facilities to the people of Gullane and the wider community.
Paul McGirk, Chief Executive of Hub South East Scotland, said, “This is our first project working jointly with both East Lothian Council and NHS Lothian.
“Hub is about partnership working between local authorities, NHS and the private sector, focused on delivering first class community facilities for local people. This modern Day Centre is an excellent example of how this works in practice.”
