An Edinburgh hotel, recently opened in the city’s Old Town, has been fitted with 25 bespoke roof windows by specialist manufacturer Fakro.
The 208-room Motel One Edinburgh Royal is in a listed building, parts of which date from the 16th century, and the architects Morgan McDonnell specified conservation-style windows. Fakro supplied smoke-vent, flat-roof, fixed-closed and top-hung designs.
The company is the fastest-growing roof window manufacturer in the world and has a 15% share of the global market. Known for its quality and innovation, it has been supplying windows in the UK since 2000,
Motel One, in Market Street, overlooks Waverley Station, and is the first venture in the UK for the German hotel group, which has outlets in Vienna, Brussels and across Germany. A London branch is due to open next summer.
