THE proposed blueprint for a major housing development in Aberdeen is out for public consultation.
The city council is gauging reaction to the Hopecroft Planning Brief, which was produced on behalf of Persimmon Homes and the Rowett Research Institute. The document has been developed to define a framework for future development on the 3.3 hectare site in Bucksburn. It sets out key development and design principles.
The planning brief highlights the need for new residential development that is in keeping with the surrounding neighbourhood in terms of density and housing mix. There will be an emphasis on pedestrian and cycle movement and the use of ‘shared surfaces’.
The site is in agricultural use and has been identified in the Aberdeen Local Development Plan as suitable for housing.
Consultation closes on January 31 and responses are due to be reported to a development management sub-committee next month.
