BELLWAY has concluded a deal with Barratt and David Wilson Homes to purchase two parcels of land at Durieshill in Stirling.
Situated on Roman Road between Pirnhall Roundabout and Plean, Durieshill is the largest new community project in Scotland spanning 593 acres and featuring 3,000 proposed new homes over the next 30 years.
Spearheaded by Stirling Council and lead developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes, the masterplan features two new primary schools alongside a community campus, shops, business and additional community facilities. Over 40% of the site will be retained as open space, incorporating regenerated community woodland and dedicated walking and cycling routes.
Subject to planning approval, Bellway propose building 317 new homes in six different pods within the development. Provisional designs include two and three-bedroom terrace properties, three-bedroom semi and detached options, and four and five-bedroom detached homes.
Pauline Coates, sales director, Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland West), said, “We’ve been building elsewhere in Stirling for several years and can’t help being impressed by everything the area has to offer buyers – a beautiful setting, an excellent transport network and infrastructure, great education and leisure facilities, all offering a terrific quality of life. Durieshill will enhance that and open up opportunities for new home owners as well as support local economic development.”
Andy Curran, MD for Barratt and David Wilson Homes West, added, “Durieshill will be unlike anything previously delivered in Scotland, setting a new benchmark for high-quality placemaking at scale. From the outset, our vision has been about creating much more than 3,000 private and affordable homes. It is about creating a thriving community and a place where people genuinely want to live, work and put down roots. Exceptional community design will sit alongside innovation in sustainability, connectivity and infrastructure, helping to shape the way people live for generations to come.
“Delivering a development of the scale and significance of Durieshill requires genuine collaboration. Developers, local authorities and community groups all have an important role to play in bringing this vision to life. By working together from the outset, we can create a well-connected, sustainable and vibrant place that residents are proud to call home, both today and for generations to come.”
Bellway has submitted a planning application to Stirling Council.
