Morris & Spottiswood opens Inverness base

Martin Bell

MORRIS & Spottiswood Group has opened a new office in Inverness amidst the growing scale of investment in Scotland’s energy grid.

Spearheading the expansion is newly appointed divisional director, Martin Bell. Tasked with establishing and growing the group’s presence in the Highlands and north of Scotland, Martin brings almost two decades of experience delivering projects within the Inverness area. A chartered electrical engineer by background, he joins Morris & Spottiswood Group from RYBKA.

Speaking about his appointment, Martin commented, “Opening our Inverness office is an exciting step for the Morris & Spottiswood Group and reflects the growing construction and infrastructure opportunities across the region. With significant investment taking place as part of the energy transition, we are well placed to support clients with our breadth of expertise and, importantly, our ability to bring those services together to provide a truly integrated approach.

“While the energy sector represents a significant opportunity for growth, our experience extends across a wide range of markets. We have a strong track record in delivering successful projects for retail, production & manufacturing, defence, finance, commercial and public-sector clients, including education and other community-focused facilities. Not to mention our work in the energy sector with the likes of Scottish Power Energy Networks, Scottish & Southern Energy, Clark Energy and Nadara. Our aim is to bring that depth of experience, combined with the scale and resources of the wider Group, closer to clients across the region.”

The Apache refurbishment

The launch of the Inverness office consolidates the group’s integrated end-to-end service offering in the north of Scotland, which recently saw the completion of a commercial refurbishment and CAT B fit-out project for Apache in Aberdeen.

The high-specification project brought together expertise from across the Morris & Spottiswood Group in a streamlined, integrated approach within a live, multi-occupied environment. Morris & Spottiswood delivered the fit-out, bespoke joinery and flooring packages; Livingston undertook the M&E works; McLennan acted as principal designer; and Inspire Spaces provided the furniture, fixtures and equipment, delivering a contemporary workplace fit for Apache’s needs today and into the future.

Looking ahead, the group said it plans to grow the Inverness office into a full local team, including apprenticeship opportunities, as part of a longer-term commitment to the region’s construction community.
