ETIVE Consulting Engineers has announced the promotion of Caroline Rutherford to director, recognising her significant contribution to the business and track record in delivering complex engineering projects.

Caroline has successfully led a diverse range of high-profile developments during her time with the company. These include a 774-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development and sports hall facility in Belfast, as well as the recent transformation of the A-listed Sir Basil Spence-designed office building at 9-10 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, into a 206-bedroom hotel.

Etive said the breadth of these projects, each presenting vastly different technical and engineering challenges, demonstrates Caroline’s ‘versatility, expertise and leadership capabilities’.

Director Douglas Walker commented, “Caroline brings many outstanding qualities to our board. Her views are always well considered, thoughtful and robustly expressed, helping to shape better outcomes for both our business and our clients. More than that, Caroline is an experienced and highly capable engineer with a natural ability to nurture talent and lead by example. We are delighted to celebrate this well-deserved promotion and the further strengthening of our senior leadership team.”

With offices in Edinburgh and Inverness, Etive Consulting Engineers is a civil and structural engineering consultancy that works with clients across the commercial, residential, education, hospitality, energy and public sectors.
