DETAILED planning permission has been secured for Tech Terrace, a new speculative development at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) in Renfrewshire, with construction targeted to start this autumn.
The project aims to establish a ‘world-class, high-value’ manufacturing cluster within a campus environment, where organisations can work together to pioneer breakthroughs, meet challenges of the future, and drive economic growth.
The 30,000 sq. ft development will deliver flexible units within a landscaped setting with footprints starting from circa 2,000 sq ft.
Supported by a Scottish Enterprise grant of £4.74 million and matched funding from AMIDS joint venture partners Renfrewshire Council and Buccleuch Property, Tech Terrace is tipped to address a lack of supply within the market, enabling advanced manufacturing companies to scale. The development sits within the AMIDS and Glasgow Airport Tax Site, further supporting companies by offering various fiscal incentives.
Renfrewshire Council leader Iain Nicolson said, “This is an exciting step in the ongoing development of AMIDS. Tech Terrace will play a key role in helping businesses establish themselves within Renfrewshire and benefit from being part of a manufacturing cluster, with the opportunity to expand into larger, purpose-built facilities as they grow. AMIDS supports our objective to provide local people access to high-quality jobs and to establish Renfrewshire as a global leader in advanced manufacturing.”
