ENERGY infrastructure solutions provider Global has announced the launch of Global Commissioning, which will deliver commissioning, completions, start-up, handover and operational readiness support to clients across multiple sectors.
The company will be based in Global’s corporate office in Aberdeen alongside fellow group firm, Apollo.
Global Commissioning is actively recruiting, targeting a headcount of 25 by the end of the year. The business is working on two active projects already and targeting further work in the space and data centres sectors as well as in the energy infrastructure space.
The team will be headed up by Ben Rushton, who brings 15 years’ experience in the field to the role.
Ben Rushton said, “With the scope of opportunities already available to the group in an evolving marketplace, I’m really excited to join Global Commissioning, which is set to be a vital cog in Global’s end-to-end, service offering. The synergies that exist within the portfolio are already organically creating numerous opportunities for the group, as well as for Global Commissioning specifically, and we are also actively tendering for projects across sectors.
“Although commissioning has traditionally been seen as the final part of a project, we believe that by understanding and participating in the project from tendering right through to delivery and handover that we can add huge value to clients. Global Commissioning will get involved at the tendering stage and, whether it be onshore or offshore, we’ll bring left-to-right thinking and a complete vision for the project, from tender, through design, procurement, construction, delivery and commissioning, leaning on the comprehensive matrix of capabilities offered by the Global portfolio companies.
“This wraparound service for clients – working essentially with one contractor – will allow us to identify cost and time savings for clients across the project scope from, for example, getting the engineering up front right, or pre-commissioning subsystems or systems early.”
Gordon Farmer, board director at Global, added, “The launch of Global Commissioning and the appointment of Ben Rushton is the latest example of Global building connected capability that genuinely supports our clients and the sectors we support. We pride ourselves on the relationships we enjoy with our clients.
“Adding a commissioning capability to our existing integrated competencies of planning & consent, engineering & design, fabrication & modular build-out, construction & logistics, and operation & maintenance allows us to deliver bespoke, multi-service, turnkey solutions to clients, covering the full project lifecycle. These connected capabilities – combining vast technical expertise with practical delivery experience – offer clarity, accountability, and confidence to clients.”
