SCOTTISH-headquartered engineering consultancy Harley Haddow has ramped up its growth ambitions with the opening of a new office in Birmingham.

The new operation is based at Birmingham’s Runway East and is the company’s eighth location in the UK. The 11-strong team will be led by director Scott Lydon, supported by regional director Jeremy Silvester.

Providing consultancy in mechanical, electrical and public health systems within buildings, Harley Haddow Midlands will also work with public and private-sector clients to advise on building performance and efficiency.

The firm revealed how it accelerated the launch of its Birmingham premises, mobilising quickly to recruit a team of experienced professionals across technical and administrative roles. The new team includes engineers, a Building Information Modelling (BIM) specialist, an office manager, and two apprentices.

Scott Lydon said, “We know the regional market and its players very well and that, supported by the solid foundations of a 76-year-old business, is a recipe for success. Harley Haddow’s tactical move will ensure continuity across the built environment and provide a strong platform for growth.”

Fellow director Jim Kellachan added, “Establishing a Birmingham operation was the natural next step in our expansion plans and it’s very opportune to have acquired an established team that’s ready to go. As a business committed to sustainability, it’s important for us to have the right people in the right places and the skills and geographic footprint provided by a new Birmingham operation will further strengthen the company.”
