THE JR Group has helped pupils from two Govan schools take part in life-changing educational and sporting experiences through donations totalling £2,500.

A £1,500 contribution helped Govan High’s football team travel to Valencia, where 26 pupils trained with coaches at Valencia CF’s first-team training complex and experienced elite football first-hand. The group also attended a match at the Mestalla Stadium, gaining insight into the professional game while representing their school overseas. The experience continued to have an impact after the team returned home, with the donation also funding new football tops worn during the Crawford Cup Final – a competition the team went on to win.

Gordon Reid, principal teacher of PE at the school, said, “The support from The JR Group gave our pupils an opportunity they will remember for years to come. Training with world-class coaches and experiencing football in a different country was hugely inspiring for the team. The donation also enabled us to purchase new football tops which the boys proudly wore when they won the Crawford Cup Final. The confidence, skills and experience they gained in Valencia undoubtedly contributed to that success.”

The JR Group also donated £1,000 to support primary 6 and 7 pupils from Ibrox Primary on an outdoor residential trip to Lochgoilhead Outdoor Centre. Pupils challenged themselves through activities including canoe raft building, shelter construction, nature walks and abseiling, helping to build resilience, confidence and teamwork while creating lasting memories with classmates. Following the trip, pupils welcomed representatives from The JR Group to the school to share what they had learned and how the experience had positively impacted them.

Euan McKendrick, procurement and communications manager at The JR Group, said, “At The JR Group, we believe our responsibility extends beyond delivering high-quality projects. We are equally committed to creating a positive and lasting impact in the communities where we work. Supporting opportunities like these allows young people to develop confidence, teamwork and new experiences that can shape their future. Hearing directly from the pupils about what they gained from their trips was incredibly rewarding and reinforces why community investment is such an important part of what we do. As we continue delivering key projects across Glasgow and beyond, we’re proud to support local schools and organisations that help strengthen communities and create a lasting legacy alongside the places we build.”

The JR Group is currently delivering 43 affordable apartments on Nimmo Drive on behalf of Elderpark Housing Association, transforming a previously derelict site. The company is also constructing 160 affordable homes at the former Albion site on Edmiston Drive for Wheatley Group. The regeneration project aims to transform a brownfield site into a vibrant new neighbourhood.
