SEVEN local groups which benefit the community in Winchburgh have been awarded a share of £4,000 Community Chest funding thanks to a collaboration between Winchburgh Developments, Cala Homes (East) and Winchburgh Community Council.
The funds have been donated by Winchburgh Developments and Cala Homes as part of their investment into the area. A significant number of funding applications were received, with judges Penny Lochhead (Winchburgh Developments) and Graham Campbell (Winchburgh Community Council) ultimately deciding to award a share of the £4,000 to each of the following organisations:
- Winchburgh Warriors Netball Club
- West Lothian Riding for the Disabled Association
- Winchburgh 1st Boys’ Brigade
- West Lothian Flames Basketball Club
- Women of Winchburgh
- Winchburgh Parish Church
- 33rd West Lothian Scouts – Winchburgh
The funding will enable the groups to better serve the community in a number of different ways, including the Scouts offering subsidised trips for Cubs to ensure they are accessible to all, and Winchburgh Warriors starting a juniors club to encourage more local children into the sport.
Penny Lochhead, community, sports and greenspace manager for Winchburgh Developments, said, “This is the first time Winchburgh Developments and Cala Homes have come together to offer a funding award and we were delighted to receive so many strong applications. We were particularly pleased to see two brand-new organisations come forward as it means we’re able to support them at the very start of their journey.”
