ARCHITECTURE and interior design practice 3DReid has revealed the shortlist for its Student Prize 2026, with the competition now in its 20th year.
Five projects described as demonstrating the creativity, ambition and social conscience shaping the future of architecture and the built environment are in the frame to win the £1,000 prize.
Selected from 22 submissions received from architecture schools across the UK, this year’s finalists explored a range of themes united by a shared commitment to tackling some of society’s most pressing challenges.
Through innovative approaches to sustainability, place-making, biodiversity, material reuse and social value, 3DReid said the shortlisted students presented visions that ‘move beyond building design and towards creating lasting positive impact’.
Following review and scoring by 3DReid’s five studios, the practice has shortlisted:
- Bridget Schneider & Hussien Khalil, University of Dundee, The Eucalyptus Project
- Jacob Hodgson, Manchester School of Architecture, Credit Landscapes
- Nikki Mrkic-Smith, Newcastle University, The Glass is Half Full
- Raven Schneider, Leicester School of Architecture, Rewilding the Machine City
- Takuyu Hirosaki, University of Bath, Productive Spine
The finalists will present their projects at the Student Prize 2026 Final, hosted by the practice’s London studio on 24 July.
A judging panel has been assembled for the event, including Graham Hickson-Smith, 3DReid (judging chair); Adele Arthur, Mace; Leanne Broadhead, Wates; Richard Coe, Kajima Partnerships Ltd; and Piotr Kaczynski, 3DReid.
