DUNDEE Football Club has now submitted all necessary documentation relating to its proposed Camperdown Stadium Project.
The club said that the move follows two years of dialogue between project consultants, city planners, and Transport Scotland.
Holmes Miller Architects was appointed in late 2023 to design the 12,500-capacity stadium for the club, which would act as a mixed-use development and replace its existing Dens Park home, which dates back to 1899.
Dundee FC believes it has taken ‘every step required’ of it in what has become a ‘protracted’ planning application. It made an initial submission for planning permission in principle in February 2024, with consultants working through a ‘significant’ engagement process to ensure the ‘most robust’ submission.
The club added that it has never wavered from its belief that the Camperdown project will transform Dundee FC’s future ambitions on and off the pitch, and that it will be a ‘crown jewel’ of the city’s rejuvenation through its many social, leisure, and economic benefits.
John Nelms, Dark Blue Group MD, said, “Firstly, I would like to thank my project team for guiding us to this stage. As many fans will have detected, there have been many times during this process – which began in 2017 – when my frustrations have bubbled to the surface. While I would have preferred to have kept fans more up-to-date, we agreed to proceed at this critical phase privately with relevant stakeholders to focus on updating key elements of feedback.
“Having done everything asked of us and more, and having respected the planning process, we now place our faith and the project’s future in the hands of the city’s elected representatives. We look forward to sharing our vision with them as soon as possible.”
