Build of £7.8m housing development underway in Aberdeen

MALCOLM Allan Housebuilders has begun work on the build of 30 houses for social rent at the site of the former Braeside Primary School in Aberdeen.

The Grampian Housing Association development will deliver a mix of 20 three and 10 four-bedroom homes. The properties will be energy efficient, having been designed for an EPC B rating.

The £7.8 million development is being funded by a grant of £4.8 million from the Scottish Government’s affordable housing supply programme alongside Grampian’s existing facilities with RBS.

Craig Stirrat Group CEO, Grampian Housing Association, said, “This is a rare opportunity to build houses close to the city centre. Developments like this are vital in helping us respond to local housing need with the homes expected to be complete by Spring 2027.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Malcolm Allan to deliver high quality tenure neutral homes in a balanced community.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Aberdeen City Council and the Scottish Government for their continued support to ensure Grampian can fulfil its commitment to delivering quality affordable homes.”

Bruce Allan, Malcolm Allan, added, “There has been a huge effort to bring this development to fruition, so we are delighted to be finally on site and will work closely with our partners, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver these homes on budget and on time.

“In the middle of this housing emergency, Malcolm Allan Housebuilders is pleased to be able to play its part in delivering these homes in central Aberdeen.”
