BARRATT Homes and David Wilson Homes have opened the first phase of a new active travel route linking Plean Country Park to Stirling, as work continues to bring the Durieshill development to life.
The route from Plean Country Park to Roman Road was open to vehicles this summer and marks an early milestone in the delivery of Durieshill. The 3,000-home community – described as the ‘largest of its kind in Scotland’ – will sit on the outskirts of Stirling. It will include private and affordable homes, retail units, a community hub, green space, children’s play areas, and two primary schools.
The new travel route opens up access for walking and cycling, supporting the vision for a sustainable community with ample green and open space. Additional work was also carried out to widen the existing road network. The development has been designed around a network of footpaths, cycle routes and EV infrastructure. Once complete, Durieshill will have 2.5 miles of active travel routes connecting the community to the surrounding area.
Durieshill is a collaborative project, which will see Barratt Redrow’s project teams work with Stirling Council and other partners to realise the new community.
To date, the homebuilder has invested more than £25 million in infrastructure development, including moving more than 100,000 cubic metres of material, mine consolidation, drainage, utility diversions, and the first phase of road upgrades. The community will officially launch in 2027.
