FRASER Dykes, the managing director of Dumfries-based AMD Contract Services, has spoken of his pride after second cousin Lyndon Dykes was named in Scotland’s World Cup squad.
Fraser, a former president of the Scottish Plant Owners Association, is preparing to fly out to Miami later this month to watch Scotland take on Brazil in the third and final match of the group stage.
Lyndon met up with Fraser last week before jetting off to America with the rest of the Scotland party for a pre-tournament training camp as the nation looks forward to competing in its first World Cup in almost 30 years.
In a twist of fate, Fraser Dykes also attended the last Scotland v Brazil World Cup clash in Paris in 1998!

Fraser said, “Lyndon is my cousin Andy Dykes’ son. Andy was a well-known Scottish motocross rider in the 70s and 80s before moving to Australia. He also has a daughter Hollie, who represented Australia in gymnastics at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, as well as the World Championships that same year.
“I think it goes without saying the whole Dykes family are very proud of Lyndon, firstly, choosing to represent Scotland over the Socceroos (Australia) and to see the Dykes name on the back of his shirt, possibly lining up against Brazil in the World Cup would just be fantastic!”
