Work begins on next phase of of The Village in Glasgow’s east end

CGI of Glasgow housing development

CRUDEN has started work on the next phase of homes at The Village, Dalmarnock, building on the success of the award-winning Athletes’ Village the housebuilder delivered for the 2014 Commonwealth Games as part of the City Legacy Consortium.

This new phase will deliver 67 two and three-bedroom terraced homes in Glasgow’s east end. The homes will range from 743 ft² to 1,023 ft², with the larger three-bedroom properties offering accommodation over three floors, including en-suite bathrooms.

Cruden said The Village has become a ‘blueprint’ for placemaking in the city, demonstrating how ‘thoughtful design, energy-efficient homes and strong community infrastructure’ can transform an area and support growth.

High levels of insulation, modern construction methods and energy-saving features will be incorporated to help keep running costs down and contribute to climate ambitions. The development will also feature solar panels and a mix of air source heat pumps and a renewable, low-carbon heating system. The first homes are due to be ready early next year, with a sales launch anticipated this autumn.

Fraser Lynes, chief executive of Cruden Homes, said, “Delivering the Athletes’ Village was a landmark moment for Cruden and the City Legacy consortium, and it has been hugely rewarding to see the neighbourhood flourish into one of Glasgow’s most vibrant new communities. This next phase at The Village, Dalmarnock builds on that legacy, bringing more high-quality, energy-efficient homes to an area that continues to go from strength to strength. We’re proud to play a continued role in shaping its future and look forward to welcoming new residents as the development progresses.”
