Springfield delivers 39 new homes in Aberlour

SPRINGFIELD Partnerships, part of The Springfield Group, has handed over 39 affordable homes at Speyview in Aberlour.

The Speyview development, delivered on behalf of Moray Council, includes a variety of house types to meet the needs of the Aberlour community and wider Speyside area – ranging from one bedroom cottage flats; two-bedroom accessible bungalows for those with mobility issues; and two-to-five-bedroom houses.

Among the new residents is 36-year-old Kyle, who recently collected the keys to one of the two-bedroom bungalows. Kyle has lived in an assisted living facility for several years due to the limited availability of specialised housing. Now, by moving into one of the new Springfield homes, Kyle will have a level of independence that has not been possible for him before.

Kyle’s Mum explained, “It’s a huge milestone for Kyle to get the keys to his own house. Its accessible layout and enclosed garden mean it’s perfectly suited to Kyle’s needs and will make life easier for his carers too.

“Aberlour is an ideal location, with family living locally and shops and services nearby. We’re looking forward to spending lots of quality time with Kyle in his new home during this exciting new chapter in his life.”

The affordable homes form part of the Moray Growth Deal funded by Moray Council and The Scottish Government as part of its £7.5 million Housing Mix Delivery project. The project aims to deliver up to 300 affordable homes across the region including Elgin, Forres, Speyside, and the Buckie coastal area.

The infrastructure improvements provided as part of this development will facilitate the second phase of housing at Speyview, which will provide an additional 31 council homes during winter 2026/27.

Scottish Government cabinet secretary for social justice and housing, Shirley-Anne Somerville, said, “This project will have a hugely positive impact in the community, providing a mix of housing options for people who wish to live and work in the area. Supported by more than £5.3m grant funding from the Affordable Housing Supply Programme, these homes contribute to our commitment to deliver 110,000 affordable homes, of which at least 70% will be for social rent and 10% in our rural and island communities.

“Working with partners, such as Moray Council and Springfield Partnership, to deliver good quality housing is essential to attract and retain people in our communities and meet the objectives in our Rural and Islands Housing Action Plan.”

Springfield Partnerships MD, Tom Leggeat, added, “We have a delivered more than a thousand homes across the region, many of which with Moray Council – including these high quality and energy efficient homes in Aberlour demonstrating the value of our long-standing relationship.

“It was gratifying to meet with Kyle, his family and support workers, to hear the positive impact his new home within Speyview will have for him going forward – serving as an important reminder of the importance of building new, quality homes for people who need them.”
