CALA Homes (West), in partnership with Helensburgh Golf Club, is inviting local residents and golf club members to attend a second public consultation event on Thursday 18 June, as plans progress for a proposed development of 145 new homes in the town.
The event will provide a further opportunity for the community to view and comment on the proposals, which include new clubhouse facilities. The proposed development is located on a nearly 20-acre site off East Abercromby Street.
The second event follows the first consultation held last month at Helensburgh Golf Club.
At the centre of the proposals is a partnership approach, bringing together Cala Homes (West), Helensburgh Golf Club and Dunbritton Housing Association to deliver a development described as responding to housing demand and wider community priorities.
The model aims to deliver new homes and unlock significant reinvestment into Helensburgh Golf Club. This will support a new clubhouse, enhancing a community asset that has been part of Helensburgh life since 1893.
The project would deliver a mix of three, four and five-bedroom homes alongside affordable properties. All homes and the new clubhouse would be energy efficient and gas-free, with low-carbon technologies including air source heat pumps and EV charging points fitted throughout. The site would also include green space, play facilities and path connections.
Gillian Hessett, land manager at Cala Homes (West), said, “The response to our first consultation event was encouraging and feedback captured from this has been used to revise proposals, that we now look forward to sharing at the second event. These proposals have been carefully considered and go beyond providing much-needed new homes in the Helensburgh area, bringing wider benefits to the community including enhancing the offering of the local golf club, a much-loved asset in the town.”
The second consultation event will take place 3-7pm on 18 June at Helensburgh Golf Club. Members of the project team will be on hand to discuss the proposals and answer questions.
