ACO has launched two new ranges of wall-mounted stormwater control solutions to protect drainage network assets and help maintain resilience at outfalls, headwalls and control points.
Q-Flap Valve is a gravity-operated non-return valve that allows discharge in one direction and closes automatically when downstream water levels rise. Q-Penstock, meanwhile, provides shut-off and flow control, allowing operators to block or regulate flow for applications such as offline storage, discharge control and maintenance isolation.
Together, they are intended for surface water, wastewater and flood-management applications, including new outfalls and retrofit upgrades to existing assets. Working alongside other ACO solutions, the products can be integrated into systems when supplied pre-installed into an ACO Q-Chamber.
The Q-Flap Valve opens under outgoing flow and closes automatically when backpressure rises, making it suitable for locations where rising rivers, tidal effects or flood events can otherwise send water back into the network. ACO revealed its ‘smooth action’ helps avoid trapping debris, reducing the risk of silt build-up.
Q-Penstock offers controlled shut-off and temporary isolation and is designed for applications where precise flow control flow is required. The curved door and frame design is intended to reduce the chance of blockage and wear on the EPDM seal, helping to maintain closure performance where access is limited.

Rob Bignall, product manager – civils & infrastructure at ACO Water Management, said, “Local authorities and engineers need solutions that do more than meet the immediate design brief. They need flow control products that are practical to install, dependable in operation and suited to the realities of exposed sites, changing water levels and long-term maintenance. Q-Flap Valve and Q-Penstock have been developed with exactly that in mind.”
