Work complete on build of 58-home Glenrothes development

COMPLETION of a 58-home development in Glenrothes has marked the latest milestone in Fife Council’s affordable housing programme.

Built by Robertson Partnership Homes, Viewfield Park continues Robertson and Fife Council’s long-standing partnership – transforming a brownfield site that had lain derelict for more than a decade into 58 affordable homes. Work commenced in 2024, with phased handover beginning in September 2025.

With the final 12 units now complete, the development has been delivered ahead of its autumn 2026 programme, allowing tenants to move in sooner and helping to address growing housing demand in the region.

The site consists of cottage flats, townhouses, and two, three and five-bedroom houses, with wheelchair-accessible and amenity bungalows also included.

Every new home is said to have been constructed to energy-efficient designs, with high-performance insulation, windows, sprinklers and modern heating systems. PV units also feature, helping the build achieve an EPC rating of B.

Throughout construction, a range of targeted social and economic benefits were delivered. This included hosting six apprentices, supporting 500 apprenticeship weeks and employing a total of 257 people. Robertson also supported an individual not in employment, education or training (NEET) by offering work experience and funding their CSCS card, resulting in them getting a full-time role.

A relationship was also established with the neighbouring Glenrothes Strollers Football Club, which works with over 400 young people in the local area. As well as donating new football and basketball kits and training equipment, Robertson carried out a range of improvement works delivered for the club at no cost, including rendering, cleaning, joinery and plumbing works.

Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council’s housing spokesperson, said, “Completion of these new houses at Viewfield is an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, council housing across Fife. Developments like this not only provide much-needed housing for local families, but also help create strong, sustainable communities. We’re pleased to have worked with Robertson to bring these houses forward, and we look forward to seeing our tenants settle in and make their homes here.”

Robertson Construction Eastern carried out the operational delivery. Regional MD Gordon Milne added, “Having successfully delivered four developments for Fife Council, we’ve seen how much of a success its Affordable Housing Programme has been across the region. We have no doubt that Viewfield Park will continue this momentum, delivering a new neighbourhood that supports the council’s response to the housing emergency while boosting the local economy during construction and beyond. We’re delighted to be continuing our relationship with Fife Council through further developments in Lochgelly and Dunfermline.”
