A free Trades Awards information evening is to be held in Aberdeen on May 27 with construction firms, professionals, and aspiring entrants from across the north of Scotland invited to attend.
Taking place at Transition Extreme in Aberdeen on Wednesday 27th May from 6pm–7.30pm, the session will bring together members of the Trades Awards judging panel, past winners, sponsors, and the organising team from Mearns & Gill.
Now in its 14th year, the Trades Awards has grown into the largest celebration of the construction industry in the north of Scotland – recognising individuals, businesses, and projects of all sizes, from apprentices and sole traders through to Tier 1 contractors and major developments. WM Donald returns as the main sponsor for a second year.
With applications already open for 2026, organisers say the event has been created to help make entering feel less daunting, while giving people the opportunity to ask questions directly and hear practical advice from those involved in the judging process.
Attendees will hear more about this year’s award categories, including new additions such as Inspiring Women in Construction and Construction Supplier of the Year, alongside established categories including Construction Project of the Year, Tradesperson of the Year, Community Engagement, and Apprentice of the Year.
The evening will also include an update from Robertson Construction on the Beach Park development in Aberdeen, which can be viewed directly from the event space at Transition Extreme.
Isla Stewart, account manager team lead of Mearns & Gill, said, “Over the years, one of the things we’ve heard most often is that people sometimes don’t realise the awards are for them. Whether that’s smaller businesses who think they’re up against major contractors, or larger organisations who think the event is aimed elsewhere. The reality is the Trades Awards is for the whole industry, and we wanted to create an evening where people could come along, ask questions, and understand the process in a relaxed setting.
“The people who take part are what make the event so special, and we’d love to see even more businesses and individuals getting involved this year.”
The Trades Awards 2026 ceremony will take place on 30th October at Ardoe House Hotel, and will raise funds for local charity partner, the Russell Anderson Foundation.
