SCOTTISH Water has confirmed the partner companies which will deliver its largest ever programme of investment.
The initial six-year delivery period of the joint-enterprise is part of a proposed £8 billion investment outlined in Scottish Water’s 2027-33 business plan.
The companies which will work with Scottish Water as part of the joint venture, known as The Enterprise, are:
- Stantec – primary designer
- Aecom – primary designer
- M Group Water – asset delivery partner
- Mott MacDonald Bentley – asset delivery partner
- Farrans Limited – asset delivery partner
- WGM Engineering – asset delivery partner
- Ross-Shire Engineering – asset delivery partner
Rob Mustard, director of capital investment at Scottish Water, said, “The Enterprise is part of the most significant programme of investment and way of working we have ever implemented. It supports our goals of financial sustainability, service excellence, and going beyond net zero, all while contributing to a flourishing Scotland.
“We’re moving to an ‘advanced partnering’ model, shifting from traditional contracting to a more collaborative approach. This model brings partners together through agreed outcomes, ensuring we deliver value for our customers and innovation in every project.
“It represents a significant evolution in how we approach capital investments. It’s designed to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, aligning with our long-term goals of environmental stewardship and community enhancement. We’re eager to partner with others to achieve these ambitions.”
Scott Jackson, regional business lead for Stantec’s Water business in the UK and Ireland, commented, “This Enterprise marks a pivotal moment for Scotland, its people, and its environment. Our appointment to this transformative programme reflects our teams’ long-term dedication to improving Scotland’s water and wastewater networks.
“We’re delighted to be bringing local and global expertise together to show what our teams are capable of and help Scottish Water deliver on its extraordinary ambitions. Sustainability, innovation, efficiency, and community will all be placed at the heart of our efforts to boost nationwide water resilience.
“This fantastic win will allow us to further grow our presence in the country, contributing significantly to local job markets and Scotland’s future.”
It is anticipated that the initial six-year investment programme will support job creation both direct and indirect to the supply chain – including new roles resulting from increased investment and opportunities for young people. The Enterprise will also enable its partners to contribute to local communities and prioritise social value through 6,000 volunteering days, and community engagement.
The programme includes approximately 426 educational visits over the six-year delivery period, further supporting community development and education.
