TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has announced it has secured an approval of matters specified in conditions (AMSC) detailed planning consent for 87 new affordable homes at Whitefields in Dunfermline.
The news marks a milestone in the delivery of phase one of the new community in north Dunfermline. The affordable homes will be made available through Kingdom Housing Association, offering a mix of 24 two-bedroom apartments and 13 two and three-bedroom homes for mid-market rent, as well as a range of 50 two, three, four and five-bedroom social rent homes. Construction of the first new homes is expected to begin later this year.
This development forms a key part of phase one of the Whitefields masterplan, which will ultimately deliver around 1,400 new homes, including affordable properties, alongside a range of community benefits. Once complete, Whitefields will feature a new primary school, local shops and community facilities, green open spaces, two equipped play areas, an informal kick-about space, and significant improvements to local transport infrastructure
Pauline Mills, technical director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “We’re delighted to have secured planning consent for the first affordable homes at Whitefields. This is another important step in bringing forward a high-quality, sustainable new community for North Dunfermline. Our partnership with Kingdom Housing Association ensures that a diverse range of affordable homes will be available from the outset, helping to meet local housing needs and supporting the long-term vision for Whitefields.”
Tricia Hill, Kingdom’s development and sustainability director, added, “We welcome this planning approval and are looking forward to working with Taylor Wimpey East Scotland to deliver the first affordable homes at Whitefields.”
