CALA’S proposals for a new residential development in Erskine have received a boost after Renfrewshire Council confirmed it is ‘minded to grant’ approval for the Blyth Gardens plans, which would provide a mix of 57 private homes alongside 18 affordable apartments.
Located on land off Florish Road roundabout, the plans feature a mix of properties, including three-bedroom terraced houses, three and four-bedroom townhouses, and four- and five-bedroom detached homes. This will be complemented by one and two-bedroom affordable apartments, which have been designed as elderly amenity housing.
Cala said the development plans include ‘generous’ green space including the Sandieland Woodland to the south of the site, as well as a dedicated children’s play area.
The project will also incorporate a range of features designed to enhance biodiversity and support local wildlife. Plans include bat roosting and bird nesting features, hedgehog-friendly fencing, and invertebrate bricks to support bees and other insects.
Blyth Gardens sits adjacent to Cala’s Gilchrist Gardens neighbourhood, where the housebuilder has delivered around 40 new homes per year for the past five years.
Graham McNeil, land director at Cala Homes (West), said, “Erskine is a well-connected and thriving community that continues to attract a diverse range of homebuyers, from families and young professionals to older residents. Building on the success of Gilchrist Gardens, we are pleased to be progressing with Blyth Gardens as we continue to invest in the region and deliver much-needed, high-quality homes.
“The development will offer a carefully considered mix of homes in a variety of sizes and price points, ensuring it appeals to a broad spectrum of buyers. Importantly, Blyth Gardens will also include affordable amenity housing for older people, helping to meet the growing local demand for accessible and suitable accommodation.”
Final approval remains subject to the conclusion of a Section 75 Agreement between Cala and Renfrewshire Council.
Groundworks are anticipated to begin in June 2026, with the first homeowners expected to move in from summer 2027.
