Highland businesses to the fore on Dingwall social housing project

Dingwall social housing

SOCIAL housing provider Albyn Housing Society has completed 27 new homes in Dingwall, with tenants describing their new homes as being ‘life-changing’ and ‘beautiful’.

The £7.2 million project comprises a mix of cottage flats, semi-detached bungalows, semi-detached houses, and terrace properties, with some homes specifically designed with accessibility needs in mind.

The properties were built by local contractor Capstone Construction, designed by Inverness-based architects’ Bracewell with engineering services by HGA based in Inverness, and quantity surveying and CDM services provided by Torrance Partnership, based in Invergordon.

The homes utilise Quantum Heating and solar panels in a bid to be as energy efficient as possible.

Works on the next phase are already underway and will see 15 new homes built comprising mid-market rent and LIFT homes, a type of shared equity scheme.

Albyn executive director of group services, Andrew Martin, said, “Albyn Housing Society is ready and willing to play our part in delivering the homes that the Highlands need. Seeing our tenants enjoying living in their new homes makes the hard work of all the Albyn team worthwhile. Using a local contractor, Capstone Construction, we have been able to work together to create 27 high quality homes that ensure people have a safe, warm and affordable place to call home.”
