‘Exceptionally rare’ Glencoe development opportunity set for auction

Glencoe

AN ‘exceptionally rare’ opportunity to acquire a loch‑side development site in the Scottish Highlands is set to come to auction.

The 5.7‑acre site in Glencoe, on the banks of Loch Leven near Ballachulish, is to be offered as Lot 120 on Tuesday 6 May, 2026.

Occupying a scenic position within the North West Highlands, the site enjoys views across Loch Leven towards Ballachulish Bridge, the Pap of Glencoe and onwards to Rannoch Moor.

Savills said opportunities of this scale and setting are exceptionally rare, particularly when brought to the open market by way of public auction. The Highland Council Local Development Plan zones the site for the residential development of up to 20 houses, presenting a development or investment opportunity in a location where supply is tightly constrained and demand is underpinned by a tourism‑led economy.

Mhairi Archibald, associate director at Savills, said, “It is extremely rare to see a loch‑side development opportunity of this scale, in such a globally recognised Highland location, brought to the open market, and rarer still by auction. The site’s setting on Loch Leven near Glencoe, combined with its planning status, accessibility and proximity to Fort William, makes it a standout opportunity within the Scottish land market.”
