EDINBURGH-based C&P Recruitment, a specialist recruiter for the construction, engineering and property sectors, has reported a 21% rise in turnover alongside the acquisition of Clarke Bridges Resourcing.
The business also recorded a 12.5% increase in temporary placements and a 5% rise in permanent recruitment in the last financial year, which is said to reflect sustained demand across housing, infrastructure and renewables.
The acquisition marks a step in the company’s growth strategy, strengthening its UK presence and adding senior expertise with ‘deep-rooted’ industry relationships.
Founded 22 years ago by MD Donald Wynn, C&P Recruitment has offices in Edinburgh and Inverness, placing specialists in construction, property and infrastructure sectors across mainland Scotland, the north of England and the Scottish Isles. The company employs 15 people, and reported turnover of £10 million in its most recent financial year.
The business has recently strengthened its senior leadership team, with Nicola Monro joining as permanent recruitment director and Josh O’Dwyer returning as head of construction recruitment after two years in Australia, working alongside MD Donald Wynn and operations director Kathleen Wynn.
The company recruits across all levels of the industry, from senior leadership through to site managers, trades and entry-level roles, supporting placements for housebuilders, contractors and infrastructure providers.
Demand has been driven in part by major housing, infrastructure and renewables projects, particularly in the Highlands, where activity in civil engineering is accelerating.
C&P Recruitment said it is seeing particularly strong demand for roles within civils, as long-term infrastructure and energy projects begin to scale. The business is actively building its network of candidates in anticipation of a sustained pipeline of work over the next five to ten years.
This growth comes against a backdrop of ongoing skills shortages across the construction sector.
Donald Wynn said, “This has been a strong year for us, particularly given the wider challenges across construction and the economy. Demand for skilled people hasn’t gone away and if anything, it’s becoming more critical as projects accelerate.
“The challenge now isn’t finding work, it’s finding the right people to deliver it. We’ve built this business on relationships and reputation over the past 22 years, and this next phase is about scaling that. Bringing in the right people, expanding our reach, and continuing to support careers across the industry.”
The acquisition of Clarke Bridges adds specialist capability in construction and engineering recruitment.
John Clarke, director of Clarke Bridges, added, “Clarke Bridges Resourcing is very pleased to announce that it will be joining forces with one of the leading Scottish construction recruitment agencies, C&P Recruitment. Having focused predominantly on permanent recruitment for tier one contracting in the civil engineering and construction sector for almost 20 years, the merger of Clarke Bridges Resourcing with C&P Recruitment significantly expands our offering to both clients and candidates alike, and it is a journey that we are very much looking forward to.”
