Builders’ merchant strengthens presence across the north of Scotland

PDM Huws Gray Inverness site

BUILDERS’ merchant Huws Gray is investing in its Inverness branch to further strengthen the firm’s presence across the north of Scotland.

The business said the investment in the dual-branded PDM and Huws Gray site sees it offer the ‘largest, entirely covered, drive-through timber and sheet materials facility in the region’. It also saves the jobs of six former National Timber Group (NTG) employees following the closure of the ‘Rembrand’ branch in Inverness.

Whilst the covered drive-through facility in Inverness is a significant USP for the site, the investment also sees the branch offer the ‘widest product range’ across all merchanting, timber and civils needs. The site will additionally offer a full landscaping range.

A new 350 sqm kitchen and bathroom showroom, comprised of 20 distinct displays, will open in May, with a trade open day planned to celebrate the full branch relaunch.

Eddie Hernon, MD at PDM Huws Gray, said, “Strengthening our timber offering remains a key strategic priority for Huws Gray in Scotland, and this latest investment in Inverness represents an important step in that journey. By creating the largest drive-through timber facility in Inverness, we’re ensuring customers have access to a high-quality purchasing environment where timber is stored indoors and protected from the elements.|

The branch continues to be led by manager Kate Telfer, supported by business development manager Kenny Mitchell, who recently joined from Rebrand Timber, part of the former NTG group.

Kate said, “This is an exciting time for the whole PDM Huws Gray team in Inverness. Not only are we well placed to provide customers with the best timber, merchanting and civils experience in the area, but we’re also now further strengthened with the addition of our experienced colleagues from the former NTG team.”
