WORK has been completed on a £3.8 million improvement project at Aberdeen Railway Station.

The station was closed for the past three weekends while Network Rail delivered the project, which is aimed to keep services running reliably for customers.

The work was carried out across platforms 3, 4, 6, and 7, where almost a mile-and-a-half of rail was renewed, along with around 1,500 sleepers and 4,500 tonnes of ballast.

Ross Moran, route director at Network Rail Scotland, said, “These upgrades are important to keep the railway safe and fit for the future. Our teams worked carefully within the short access windows available to complete a significant amount of work over the three planned weekends. This approach helped us keep most weekday services running as normal while still delivering the improvements required.

“We appreciate that any change to journeys can cause disruption, and I want to thank customers for their patience while the work was carried out. Their support helped us make the upgrades needed to keep trains running smoothly.”
