Work complete on £4m upgrade of Inverclyde railway line

NETWORK Rail has successfully completed £4 million worth of upgrades across the Inverclyde railway line.

Across an eight-day programme, engineering teams carried out essential repairs and renewals at multiple locations included fixing and replacing parts of the walls that support the railway in Greenock.

The main deck of the River Gryffe Bridge was also replaced, repairs were delivered to the steel that supports the railway on Houston Road in Georgetown, and fixing the steel under the bridge and replacing the platform at Station Road in Langbank.

Ross Moran, route director at Network Rail, said, “Our engineers have delivered vital upgrades that will keep the Inverclyde line reliable for years to come.

“Strengthening key structures is essential to maintaining a safe and resilient railway, and we’re grateful to customers for their patience while we carried out this important work.”
